SEic is short for Smiling Elements. Since 2008, that's been the whole idea, bikes that make you smile on the way out the door.
Built for everyone else first
Smiling Elements started in 2008 as a steel-frame bicycle builder, design, engineering and supply-chain integration for brands across more than 20 countries. Frames, parts and paint, all handled in one place: the kind of workshop other companies trusted with their name.
Then a German customer asked us a question we couldn't shake.
A customer from Germany, on a factory visit"The whole world knows Taiwan is the kingdom of bicycle manufacturing. So why don't I see bicycles on your streets?"
Visitors kept saying the same thing: the bikes were this good, and they all shipped overseas. If we could build products worth putting a name on, they should carry ours. So we gave them one.
From workshop to brand
Taichung, Taiwan
Smiling Elements founded, steel-frame design and manufacturing for international brands.
SEic is born
Our own product brand and the SEic Bike Factory stores launch, starting with single-speed and mini velo bikes.
Electric era
The SEic e-bike line officially launches, and we begin co-developing the Unimoke MK with Berlin's Urban Drivestyle.
Unimoke goes global
Mass production begins; Unimoke rides into markets around the world.
First store
Our first SEic Bike Factory store opens in Taichung, every bike custom-built, tested and tuned before delivery.
Design recognised
Unimoke MK wins the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i award, the first of an award collection that keeps growing.
UD joins the family
Smiling Elements acquires the global rights to Urban Drivestyle, carrying the Berlin spirit forward from Taiwan.
An industry first
Together with Delta Electronics, we co-develop the first Taiwan-made e-bike motor.

Factory and studio, one address
Our designers and engineers work on the same floor as the production line. Every bike that leaves us is assembled, electronically tested, drivetrain-tuned, road-tested and detailed by hand, a habit from our manufacturing years we never intend to lose.
It's why brands from street culture to cinema come to us to build theirs, and why every SEic and UD bike carries the same quiet standard: made in Taiwan, made properly.
